At a time when people are being pitted against each other, it’s more important than ever that governments invest in bringing people together to build connection, understanding and trust. 

That’s exactly what Merri-bek community festivals do, as well as showcase our local community groups, artists and small businesses to many thousands of people. 

Yet Merri-bek Council is proposing to stop running Sydney Road Street Party each year, instead cutting it back to every second year. This would be a huge loss for our community, particularly for local artists, performers and small businesses. 

Sign the petition calling on Merri-bek City Council to keep Sydney Road Street Party an annual event and to protect Fawkner Festa and the Glenroy Festival.

Let’s keep our community spirit going by saving our community festivals.

Please save Sydney Road Street Party and Merri-bek’s community festival program, including the Fawkner Festa and Glenroy Festival. 

These important Council-run events bring people together from all across Merri-bek and Melbourne and showcase what our local community has to offer. They are an opportunity for people to build connection and trust as they share in different cultures, music and the arts.
