The Brunswick electorate is home to 12 unique and inspiring public schools. It is my privilege to regularly visit each of these schools, where I meet with dedicated staff, passionate parents and hard-working children.
Housed in 100-year-old buildings, maintenance has become almost impossible with inadequate State Government funding.
Walking around these schools, I have seen leaking roofs, flooding, asbestos, windows that don’t open, peeling lead paint and a lack of facilities, in one case forcing staff to use toilets in a neighbouring home.
A good government would fund school maintenance appropriately because every child deserves to go to school with facilities that are up to scratch.
With our community, I’m calling for emergency maintenance funding and together, we’ll keep up the pressure to ensure our schools are adequately funded.
We all want to see better school facilities for Brunswick children.
