Brunswick needs public transport that supports our growing community.
Our trams are crowded, our tram stops aren’t accessible for everyone and our trains run infrequently.
The Victorian state government was legally bound to make all tram stops fully accessible by the end of 2022. But that deadline has long passed, and a fully accessible tram network is still a long way off.
On Sydney Road alone, there are currently no accessible tram stops at all for 5.5 kilometres, stretching from Brunswick Road in Brunswick East all the way to Bakers Road in Coburg North.
For passengers with accessibility requirements, like people with a disability, parents with prams, elderly people, and anyone with temporary and permanent mobility restrictions, or even a heavy suitcase – if you live or travel anywhere along this long stretch of road, right now you’re being left behind.
I’ll fight for frequent, reliable and accessible public transport. And together, we can get our suburbs moving again.
